Yixing Tea Pot 130ml | Xi Shi, Hei Jin Gang Clay
A beautiful, authentic Yixing Clay tea pot, handmade by a crafting family with three generations of experience. Be wary of fake, cheaper pots that are made in factories without Yixing clay, these will not create good suction while pouring and the clay will not retain complex flavors that these pots are famous for.
Xia Cai Hong is a graduate of the Yixing Academy of Clay Arts. She's from a teapot crafting family that's been creating works of art in Yixing for three generations. Her favorite teapot styles are "Fang Gu" and "Rong Tian". Her father Xia Fu Ru is now retired but worked in Yixing Factory #1 starting in the 1970's after the end of the Cultural Revolution.
Every pot is hand-made and the artisan will sometimes change the stamps they use. There may also be some slight differences in the color, handle shape, and volume. Some differences in the color and shininess of the actual teapot you receive as compared to the one in the photographs may also be due to light conditions when the photographs are taken. Thanks for your understanding!
Hei Jin Gang Clay 黑金钢沙 is a blend of Zi Ni (Purple Clay) and Bao Lan Zhu Ni. It's dark in color with some purple and brown with a small amount of sand mixed in. Porous and perfect for seasoning with Pu-erhs or Oolongs.
Yixing clay is a type of clay from the region near the city of Yixing in Jiangsu Province, China, used in Chinese pottery since the Song dynasty (960–1279). Also known as zisha (宜興紫砂) ware, Yixing pottery is prized because their unglazed surfaces absorb traces of the beverage, creating a more complex flavour. For these reasons, Yixing teawares should never be washed using detergents, but rather with water only, and connoisseurs recommend using each tea vessel for one kind of tea (white, green, oolong, black, or puer) or sometimes even one variety of tea only.
1. Add loose leaf tea
2. Add hot water (temperature dependent on tea)
3. Steep for 15-30 seconds (Gonfu Style)
4. Pour into cup and enjoy
5. Re-steep several times
6. DO NOT use detergent or soap to clean. Rinse with water only
